The Truth About Making Plans

The Truth About Making Plans

Good People,

Have you heard the saying, “when you make plans, God (or The Universe) laughs?” It’s one of my favorites, it also a phrase that comes with its fair share of irony. For most of us, we’ve always navigated life with some type of plan. I made plans to graduate high school, attend college, go to medical school and then become a doctor. At the same time, while hitting that check list, I was unknowingly making plans to move away from my creative side. Enter that laugh; here I am hosting a podcast (that has very little to do with my being a doctor), producing films, writing scripts — all the while still being very active in the field of medicine.

The Truth About Forging Your Own Path

Here we are, just 4 weeks until 2019. This time of year is always exciting and it’s even sweeter being able to experience it through my children’s eyes. I also like to spend this time in deep reflection, taking a moment to think about the current year — expressing gratitude for another trip around the sun, the health of my family/friends and taking a moment to celebrate the wins.

The Truth About Honoring You in Your Relationships

Good People,

As we prepare for 2019, it's important to take a moment to reflect on this past year and take account of what we want to create going forward. The relationships in our lives are a big part of that. It's been said that we are the average of the 5 people we spend most of our time with. It is important that those key players are privy to who we really are and what we really want.

We've discussed previously about the importance of accepting truth and the impact of trying to ignore or refuse it. A large part of stepping into truth is being able to communicate it.

Honesty and authenticity are two are two of the key ingredients in the Truth Prescription and, while she was specifically talking about romantic relationships, our Season One guest Tennesha Wood was spot on with this one - "you gotta figure out what you want, and you have to be honest with the people around you...100% about what you want in terms of a relationship."

As we grow more into the truth, we become closer representatives of our real self. The things that used to move us sometimes no longer do. We have to stay real with the people in our lives about what we want from them and convey clearly what we will and will not provide for them. There's great truth in boundaries and remember what we say about the truth? It will set you free...if you let it!
