A Year End Truth

Good People,

We made it! Here's to 2018. I don't know about you, but I felt like this year flew by. I want to thank you all for spending another year with me and the truth. While 2018 came and went like the breeze, it also brought it's fair share of lessons. We've had some great conversations -a favorite being the interview with my god-father, sportscaster and news anchor, Jimmy Myers.

We spoke in March about his legendary career, the trials and tribulations endured on his journey and how to honor oneself to forge your own path. I must acknowledge there will be people you encounter along the way that will disagree with who you are, what you do or the way you do it. There will also be those that take the additional step to actually create a barrier to your success. Many are threatened by the truth and instead of leaning into it, they put up defenses and ignore or attack it. My god-father is among the most brilliant minds in sports - despite that and because of that, he dealt with discrimination throughout this career. What I admire most about his story, is that he didn't let others ignorance, no matter what position they held, diminish the light of his talent - "No matter what anyone said about my color, I was going to overwhelm them with my brilliance in what I was doing, whether it was sports radio, television, talk, or producing. Every job I had, I wanted to do it to the best of my ability."
